Position Title

• Chef and Kitchen Manager

Reports To

• Senior Minister

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Status

• Hourly, non-exempt, part time

Position Description

• Provide and oversee all on-site food hospitality

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Lead kitchen team (volunteer and paid) in cooking and catering lunches after Sunday services (serving approximately 130) and occasional special events
2. Provide and oversee menu planning and shopping, ensuring that expenses are within budget
3. Solicit, lead, train and schedule volunteers
4. Coordinate with Facilities and Operations Director to maintain on-site kitchen in good working order.

Regular Hours

• Cooking and catering: 2 - 3 Sundays per month (6:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.)
• Planning and shopping: flexible (5 - 7 hours per week)
• Special events: Approx. 1 per month (variable hours)

Knowledge and Skills

• Generous, hospitable attitude of service
• Thorough knowledge and experience in a commercial kitchen
• Two years food service management experience preferred
• Technical college degree preferred
• ServSafe® food safety certification required within 30 days of hire
• Team leadership skills
• Creativity in menu planning, including vegan and vegetarian
• Efficiency in use of equipment and ingredients

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, talk and hear
• Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
