Department Overview

The Workplace Services (WPS) Department is a critical function within the operations division of The Pew Charitable Trusts and supports the Pew Research Center. Consisting of approximately 30 staff, with additional vendors and contract staff, this department is responsible for Pews physical workspace as well as conferences and events, and organizational continuity management. The Workplace Services function supports and impacts all Pew staff in the US and across the globe.

Position Overview

The Vice President, Workplace Services is a strategic leader responsible for shaping and delivering an exceptional workplace experience for all Pew staff globally. The Vice President reports to the Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer and is a member of the operations and organizational leadership team, and as such drives the culture of the organization.

This role oversees facilities, real estate both owned and leased, conferences and events, and business continuity, ensuring alignment with Pews mission, values, and operational priorities. The Vice President partners with senior leaders across HR, IT, and Finance to drive innovation, sustainability, and employee engagement.

This position is based in Pews Washington, D.C., office and will participate in Pews hybrid work program with core days in the office and the flexibility to telework the remaining days. Staff also enjoy four telework flex weeks per year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion a safe, inclusive and high-performing workplace across all Pew locations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative workplace practices, leveraging technology and data to optimize space, enhance productivity, and support hybrid work models.
  • Ensure compliance and upkeep for all building operations in Philadelphia, and especially the DC corporate office, which is a 262,000 square foot, class A workspace with LEED certification. This includes maintenance, security, parking, property taxes, tenants, and more.
  • Oversee compliance with all facility-related codes, regulations and sustainability standards.
  • Direct the travel risk management and business continuity programs, ensuring robust crisis management and organizational resilience.
  • Manage operating and capital budgets, with responsibility for longterm financial planning and cost optimization.
  • Develop and implement department-wide purchasing and contracting procedures aligned with Pew policies.
  • Deliver exceptional conference and event services, related travel, focusing on customer satisfaction, vendor management, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing Workplace Services team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Maintain a technology roadmap, integrating AI and smart building solutions to support evolving workplace needs.
  • Lead and direct performance measurement, analysis and improvement activities across the Workplace Services department.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in workplace services, facilities management, or related fields; bachelors degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record in managing largescale, multisite operations and leading highperforming teams.
  • Deep expertise in Class A office facilities, commercial real estate, and space management.
  • Demonstrated success in business continuity planning for global organizations.
  • Strong project management, financial acumen, and strategic planning skills.
  • Exceptional communication, relationshipbuilding, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and innovative workplace culture.
  • Familiar with software applications including Microsoft Office, databases, spreadsheets, and presentation packages.Able and willing to learn new computer applications.
  • General knowledge of building operations and commercial real estate management software (i.e., MRI Angus, FM: Systems, AutoCad, etc.), event management and customer relationship (Cvent, Salesforce, etc.), ServiceNow, SharePoint, etc.
  • Professional certification/designation preferred (MCR, CFM, CPM, etc.).

Travel

Occasional travel to Pew's Philadelphia, PA office and to other domestic and international offices as required.

Salary Range

$215,000 USD - $240,300 USD

The salary range represents a reasonable estimate of the annual salary based on Pews commitment to provide equitable and marketcompetitive pay. The actual salary offered will take into consideration many factors including but not limited to jobrelated knowledge, skills and experience, internal pay equity, and business need.
