Research Assistant (Hourly) Employer: University of Utah Location: Campus, Salt Lake City, UT Job Type: Part‑time Pay Range: $20.00 – $25.20 per hour Schedule: Typically two (2) 5‑hour shifts per week Job Summary Provide administrative support to the clinical research program and laboratory. Duties include front‑desk management, file organization, clerical tasks, participant recruitment and scheduling, sample transport, inventory monitoring, and general clerical responsibilities. In addition, the role involves air‑sampling collection in various university clinical locations, training on air‑sampling equipment (BioVIVAS, Grimm, TSI Q‑Trak), data management and statistical analysis of air‑sampling data, and potential limited work in a BSL2+ laboratory and obtaining informed consent from clinical patients. Key Responsibilities Manage front desk and general administrative tasks. Organize files and maintain records related to research studies. Recruit participants, verify eligibility, and enroll subjects. Schedule participant visits and maintain visit records. Transport samples and laboratory equipment. Monitor inventory levels and order supplies. Collect air samples using BioVIVAS, Grimm, and TSI Q‑Trak equipment. Perform data management and statistical analysis of air‑sampling data. Attend periodic meetings with the research team. Assist with BSL2+ laboratory work and informed consent procedures as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (required). 1 year of higher education may be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience. Entry‑level (Research Assistant I) requires little or no related experience. Intermediate (Research Assistant II) requires at least 1 year of related experience. Skilled (Research Assistant III) requires 3+ years of related experience. Experience with air sampling and knowledge of biological health and safety preferred. Ability to perform clerical duties, manage records, and coordinate multiple tasks.
